Inherent to adult like is a constant fatigue (sometimes accompanied a coffee addiction). While a lack of sleep and a consistent sleep schedule is an obvious reason for this, there can actually be more than one cause. Here are some reasons why you might always be tired:
1. Poor nutrition
Eating a lot of take-out or junk food recently? Feeling that sluggish feeling right afterwards? The truth is that a poor nutrition slows our bodies down. The ability for us to digest the extra fats and protein gives us that feeling of fatigue.
Coffee works by blocking a neurotransmitter in the brain called adenosine. This same transmitter is important for the sleep cycle so by blocking it you feel more awake and less able to sleep which disrupt your sleep schedule. Make sure to not consume coffee six hours before you are about to go to bed.
Without the proper amount of water in your system, your blood thickens. When this happens oxygen is less able to be delivered throughout your body slowing you down.
Lastly, lack of exercise can also be a reason. Physical activity is necessary for humans and the endorphins that are released during exercise benefits our bodies in so many ways including wakefulness. It's important to engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise a week. We will get into how you can do this during quarantine in another blog!
